I’m so glad you stopped by. Let’s get to this week’s Ask Navy Dave question!
Question:
What should i buy first – a driver or a putter?
Answer:
You ever heard the saying “drive for show, putt for dough”? As an average amateur golfer, you are likely to putt the ball 34 times a round. That same amateur will use the driver between 12-14 times a round. Math wasn’t my best subject but cost per shot ratio would have me leaning towards the putter…
Now, here comes the crazy part. MORE EXPENSIVE DOESN’T MEAN A BETTER PUTTER!!! You heard correctly. You need to find a putter that fits your putter swing and sometimes that isn’t the expensive one. Again, this is where you need to hit the different types of putters: mallet, blade, heavy, light, heel hozzle, plumber neck…lots of choices!!! It doesn’t matter what it looks like, it matters that it fits your eye and gets you putting on the line you want to.
Hope this helps! Hit em well and hopefully less often!
